I'll bear in mind, on the first evening of every family members camping outing, the first light of those cherished vibrant string lights we had made it easier for mother to hang from tree to tree earlier that afternoon.
It was always the same emotion when their smooth but jolly light dropped on the soil around us... It was time to be having a good time!
That's string lights for anyone. Soon as they begin, you just feel like smiling. And anyone that has hung these types of festive lighting and enjoyed that atmosphere understands what I'm saying.
But in the past, unless you used to be camping or throwing an outdoor Hawaiian luau, the string lights mostly stayed in a box, just gathering dust particles in the attic.
These days folks don't want events to hang most of these little pleasures but have made them fixed lighting resources as a part of their landscape decor. And people are loving string lights as never before.
And it excites me to notice them becoming so well received. As a young child, I just never thought why we merely used them on our camping out trips. We had the small multi-colored Chinese lantern type and they made the most wonderful shine on our faces as we all sat beneath them telling ghost stories.
These days, there are so many styles of string lamps you can buy, and all of them ready to bring about any corner of your garden a very fun place to be. And not just for an occasional party, but each night!
When my mother and father passed away, I inquired about those outdated Chinese lantern string lighting my mother had strung so often through so many years. Though dusty, worn out and torn, and most of the bulbs burned out as well, they hold so many fond recollections of our family's hiking trips, they are precious to me.
And in a private part of my backyard, I have suspended some very very similar Chinese lanterns. And it's the area everyone's congregates to, faces aglow, conversation lively... Just fun all around.
